We were recently called out to help a customer in Ayr who was having serious trouble with their front door—despite the house being only two years old.
The composite door had developed major issues with operation. All three of the original door hinges had failed, with the hinge pins snapping completely. As a result, the door was misaligned and had to be physically lifted just to close or lock it properly. This kind of regular strain eventually took its toll, leading to premature failure of the multi-point locking mechanism too.
To get everything back in working order, we carried out a full repair:
- Fitted a brand-new set of durable door hinges
- Installed a new Winkhaus Thunderbolt locking mechanism
- Fully realigned the door to ensure smooth operation
The difference was immediate. The door now opens, closes, and locks as it should—with no more lifting or forcing.
